Assessment
The purpose of an assessment (or audit) is to provide an independent opinion on the quality of a certain process or project. The basis of performing an assessment is a standard framework. For IT processes for instance, this is usually CobiT or ITIL. Every standard framework is adapted to the specific scope of the assessment as well as your specific environment.
The result of the assessment is an overview of key findings, risks and proposed recommendations. The latter can be converted to a concrete action plan for remediation.
